What Guardrail uses

Guardrail uses information you choose to enter, including meal descriptions, nutrition estimates, guardrail preferences, and optional health information you authorize through Apple Health.

Storage and sync

Your app data is stored on your device and may sync through your private Apple iCloud account using CloudKit. Guardrail does not operate its own account system or custom backend. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policies.

Apple Health

Health access is optional and requires your explicit permission. Guardrail reads only the health categories you authorize and does not write nutrition data to Apple Health. Health information is used to display trends and general wellness context in the app.

Meal photos and AI features

Meal photos are user-selected and used only to help create an editable meal description. Selected images are transient and are not saved with your meal history. Depending on your device and system availability, Apple-provided intelligence services may process a request to generate an estimate. Guardrail does not use that information for advertising or tracking.

Data collection

Guardrail does not collect data for the developer, sell personal information, track you across apps or websites, or include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Information you voluntarily send by email is used only to respond to your support request.

Deleting your information

You can delete meals in the app. You can also manage Guardrail's iCloud data and Apple Health permissions through Apple system settings.
